Service Description

Join us for a free community event. Come talk about death with your fellow humans in a safe, inviting, community space. Drink tea and have some cake, and bring your questions, your comments, and your thoughts. In our death averse culture, we often avoid this topic until the very last possible second, but all humans, no matter their differences, have this in common; we all take a first breath, and we all take a last breath. This is an open discussion led by end of life doula and artist Lisa Renz. Topics can range from questions about green burials, end of life paperwork, how to start difficult conversations with family and friends, experiences as a caretaker for someone who is dying; the possibilities for conversation are endless. For discussion, we will follow the model of the Death Cafe developed by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid in the UK in 2011. Note: this session is not therapy, is not run by a therapist, and is not grief counseling.
